BRONTE, – The upcoming exhibition “The Stones of San Giorgio” in Bronte goes beyond mere artistic display to become a catalyst for social transformation, inspired by Joseph Beuys’s visions of social sculpture and Walter Benjamin’s visions of modernity and the function of art. Nicola Dell’Erba, a sculptor from Bronte, uses both traditional and innovative techniques to transform waste materials into meaningful works of art, stimulating reflections on sustainability and the ethics of reuse. Installed along the Corso Umberto, these sculptures embody Beuys’s concept of art as a tool for social change, proposing an art that invites community participation and stimulates debate on crucial issues such as inclusion and the environment. At the same time, the exhibition reflects Benjamin’s theories on art in the age of its mechanical reproducibility, highlighting how creativity can generate a lasting social and cultural impact. "Through 'Le pietre di San Giorgio', we want to inspire the community to recognize the value of discarded materials and to reflect on the potential beauty and functionality that can be rediscovered through art," explains Dell'Erba. "This exhibition not only enriches the cultural landscape of Bronte but also serves as a manifesto for a more sustainable and above all more inclusive future." The event will include a series of interactive activities, meetings with the artist, educational workshops and community initiatives, reinforcing the role of art as a tool for dialogue and change. "Art is not only an aesthetic experience; it is also a powerful means to promote social change and awareness," adds Dell'Erba.
